Aan het begin van het nieuwe schooljaar krijgen de kinderen onderbroeken en hemden van Stichting Nanginyi. Maasai kinderen dragen thuis in de boma geen ondergoed, maar voor de kinderen die naar school gaan vinden wij het belangrijk dat ze ondergoed dragen onder hun schooluniformen voor de hygiëne. Zo kunnen de kinderen ook zonder problemen fietsen, op het plein rond rennen, klimmen en koprollen.

Local nursery school
In 2018 the Nanginyi Foundation started to establish a local nursery school in the boma. Nine girls and Nine boys between 4 and 6 years old from different boma's in the neighbourhood are coming to the boma of local coordinator Mathayo 5 days a week to follow education. In this way we want to introduce education to the local community and show that it is also important for girls. The children will be taught in different subjects and sports and creativity will be part of the curriculum too. In the morning they will be provided with a breakfast (tea with sugar and milk and bread or porridge) and there will be fruits during the day. To keep the local nursery school running we need money for materials, the breakfast and to pay a contribution for the teacher. Every donation is therefore welcome to support our local nursery!
School uniform
All children who go to school in Tanzania have to wear a school uniform. For girls, the uniform consists of: a sweater, socks, a blouse and a skirt or a dress. For boys it consists of: a sweater, a blouse, a pair of pants and socks. Next to this, the children need a sports uniform, which consists of a t-shirt with shorts. The children only wear their uniform when they are at school, in order to make sure they can use their uniform as long as possible. The parents of the children have the task to wash and alter/repair the uniforms, as we think it is important they have responsibilities. Since the children wear their uniforms daily and are still growing, we believe they need a new uniform every year. With your purchase you can make sure that one of our children will have a nice school uniform for a year.
Lokale kleuterschool
In 2018 is Stichting Nanginyi begonnen met het opzetten van een lokale kleuterschool in de boma. Negen meisjes en Negen jongens tussen de 4-6 uit verschillende boma's in de buurt komen 5 dagen per week naar de boma van coördinator Mathayo om daar onderwijs te volgen. Op deze manier willen wij onderwijs meer introduceren in de lokale community en met name laten zien dat onderwijs ook zeker voor meisjes is! De kinderen krijgen les in verschillende vakken en ook creativiteit en sport komen aan de orde. In de ochtend krijgen ze allemaal een ontbijt (thee met suiker en melk en brood of porridge (pap)) en tussendoor is er fruit, zodat er niet met een lege maag gestudeerd hoeft te worden. Om de lokale kleuterschool te laten blijven draaien is er uiteraard geld nodig voor materialen, het ontbijt en de bijdrage voor de onderwijzer. Elke donatie is dus welkom!
School fees
One of the main goals of the Nanginyi Foundation is to provide access to education for the children. Five days per week they go to the Sasa School, which lies at the edge of the savannah, where they live. They get their lessons in English. We pay the school fees for the children at the beginning of the school year. The school year in Tanzania starts in January and ends in December. The children get days off during all national and religious holidays, and get a month off in June. School fees are our largest expense every year, so every donation is welcome! Access to education gives the children a chance for a brighter future!
